Community Planning for Children and Families
Story County Childhood Collaboration (SCCC)

Mission:  The mission of the Collaboration is to act as the Child Abuse Prevention Council, provide resources, education, and support for the advancement of early childhood involving Story County agency Collaboration through:

  1. Developing community awareness, interest and involvement in issues related to young children, including and not limited to: child abuse, childcare, literacy, and healthy futures.
  2. Educating the public and professionals on successful parenting.
  3. Education the public and professionals in early detection and mandatory reporting of child abuse.
  4. Decreasing the physical and emotional pain of children.
  5. Identifying current resources available.
  6. Bridging gaps in service and referral systems.
  7. Promoting interagency cooperation and collaboration.
  8. Facilitating the development of volunteer services.
  9. Promoting legislation for the prevention of child abuse and the advancement of healthy childhoods.
  10. Providing contracts of service with other agencies to carry out the purposes of the Collaboration.

Membership: SCCC membership is open to any person or agency interested in and supportive of the mission of the collaboration. 

Meetings:  SCCC general meetings are held every other month on the third Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.; the general meetings are usually held on alternate months of the Executive Committeee meetings.  A annual business meeting is held in June.
